The Colorado LGBT community has a new home!

We couldn’t have done it without you. We have made great progress on our capital campaign, and we are now in and open at our new building at 1301 E. Colfax.

Please join The Center as we celebrate a historic milestone in the Colorado LGBT community — the Grand Opening of our new state-of-the-art facility! There will be plenty of music, food, beverages and celebration for everyone as we officially open our space to the community and welcome everyone to our, and your, new home.

Our Grand Opening celebration will be held on Friday, Sept. 17, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. in our new building at the corner of Colfax and Lafayette.

It’s time for the Venus de Miles - Colorado’s biggest all-women charity bike ride. Babes Around Denver is thrilled to be a sponsor again this year and we hope to get 100 women riding! Last year, 1500 women rode and BAD had the largest group. What’s new for 2010?

Denver’s Cook Park, June 5 & 6, 2010

DENVER, CO – April 13, 2010: Team Colorado and The GLBT Community Center for Colorado are encouraging all to participate in the First Annual “Colorado LGBT Sportsfest”, which takes place at Denver’s Cook Park June 5^th and 6^th, 2010, 8am—8pm each day. The kick-off party takes place Friday, June 4, 2010, 7—10pm, at JRs Bar and Grill, Official Headquarters, in Denver.

“All are invited to attend this day in the park, whether or not you want to participate or try a new sport!  All social organizations, families, friends and individuals are encouraged to bring picnic spreads and activities to share: badminton, croquet, ladder ball, horseshoes, twister… everything goes!”, states festival producer R. Tony Smith. “We are also encouraging other sports and social organizations not yet signed up to contact us and get involved, whether or not you already have activities that weekend. Our hope is to let all of Colorado know about the abundant, vibrant and diverse sporting and social opportunities in the LGBT community.”

The spirit of the event is modeled after the successful hundred-plus year old Olympic spirit: “Celebrating friendship, solidarity and fair play.” Participating groups currently include Babes Around Denver (social group), Black Ice Rugby, Boulder Babes Rugby, Colorado Gay Volleyball Association, Colorado Volleyball Connection, Denver Area Tennis Enthusiasts, Denver Dykes on Bikes (for motorcycle display), Denver Frontrunners, Denver Gay & Lesbian Flag Football, Denver Wildfire Rugby, OUT Spokin’, and Sunday Afternoon Car Klub (for automobile show).
